And his life was two years old | C |
He was his parents' eldest boy | D |
And he was drowned I was told | C |
His parents never more can see him | E |
In this world of grief and pain | F |
And Oh they will not forget him | E |
While on earth they do remain | F |
On one bright and pleasant morning | G |
His uncle thought it would be nice | H |
To take his dear little nephew | I |
Down to play upon a raft | J |
Where he was to work upon it | K |
An this little child would company be | L |
The raft the water rushed around it | K |
Yet he the danger did not see | L |

This little child knew no danger | M |
Its little soul was free from sin | N |
He was looking in the water | M |
When alas this child fell in | N |
Beneath the raft the water took him | E |
For the current was so strong | O |
And before they could rescue him | E |
He was drowned and was gone | P |

Oh how sad were his kind parents | Q |
When they saw their drowned child | R |
As they brought him from the water | M |
It almost made their hearts grow wild | R |
Oh how mournful was the parting | G |
From that little infant son | S |
Friends I pray you all take warning | G |
