Once was a boy age fifteen years | B |
Hiram Helsel was his name | C |
And he was sick two years or so | D |
He has left this world of pain | E |
His friends they miss this lovely boy | F |
That was patient kind and brave | G |
He left them all for him to mourn | H |
He is sleeping in his grave | G |

He was a small boy of his age | I |
When he was five years or so | D |
Was shocked by lightning while to play | J |
And it caused him not to grow | D |
He was called little Hi Helsel | K |
By all friends that knew him well | L |
His life was sad as you shall hear | M |
And the truth to you I'll tell | L |

His parents parted when he was small | N |
And both are married again | O |
How sad it was for them to meet | P |
And view his last remains | Q |
He was living with his father then | O |
As many a friend can tell | L |
'Tis said his father's second wife | R |
That she did not use him well | L |

Just before little Hiram died | S |
His uncle and aunt were there | T |
He kissed them both bid them farewell | L |
They left him with a prayer | T |
Now he is gone Oh let him rest | U |
His soul has found a haven | V |
For grief and woe ne'er enters there | T |
In that place called heaven | V |
