Gently On The Stream Of Time Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD E EFEGAHIHEJ EKABABACAA

Gently on the stream of timeA
We are floating day by dayB
In life's native boats sublimeA
We soon anchor in the bayB
We'll soon anchor in the havenC
Where the weary are at restD
In that blissful port called HeavenC
Where are roaming now the blestD
-
CHORUSE
-
Be gentle time be gentle with usE
While we are on life's troubled streamF
May life's foaming billows o'er usE
Break away as day sereneG
Gently on the stream of timeA
We will swiftly glide alongH
Till we reach the realm divineI
Then we'll join the heavenly throngH
Where our friends have gone before usE
Waiting on the other shoreJ
-
In that home they sing in chorusE
Welcome home the rich and poorK
Gently on the stream of timeA
We shall shortly pass awayB
We shall reach the heavenly climeA
If God's commands we obeyB
Gently on the stream of timeA
We are going one by oneC
Listening to the evening chimeA
On life's journey going homeA
