On the life of Andrew JacksonA
Now dear people I will writeB
And in sketches I will tell youC
His career with great delightB
His career on earth is endedD
But his name is ever brightB
And his memory is cherishedE
As a great glorious knightB
-
The early life of Andrew JacksonA
Its marked in high renownF
As a lover of his countryG
He proved steadfastly profoundH
Through kind teaching of his motherI
That patriot lady braveJ
His mind strengthened by her wisdomK
Ere she sank into her graveJ
-
Ah in manhood Andrew JacksonA
Was a daring fearless manL
With a strong iron will commandingM
He was loved throughout our landN
He was kind and generous heartedD
In his military actsO
Yet was stubborn while commandingM
And no courage did he lackP
-
At middle age Andrew JacksonA
Was a noble warlike manL
And was capable of handlingM
The army at his commandN
You can see it by the battlesQ
Of his Indian campaignR
Or the battle of New OrleansS
Where so many men were slainR
-
The dauntless energy of JacksonA
Oh should never be forgotT
Or the battle of New OrleansS
Where he diligently foughtU
Where he fought to save his countryG
From the British fleets of fameV
Through coolness and courageW
The victory he did gainR
-
As commander Andrew JacksonA
Was a soldier of great skillX
And he nobly done his dutyG
To his country with good willX
Yet in life his acts were censuredY
Ah by men both great and smallZ
One the acts that made him troubleA2
Was the arresting of Judge HallZ
-
Oh that act cost Andrew JacksonA
Many heart pang in after lifeB2
For he thought it was his dutyG
In that hard cruel strifeB2
That his soldiers should obey himC2
And fulfill every commandN
As he knew no other methodD
He could save his native landN
-
The people loved Andrew JacksonA
Old Hickory was their friendD2
As a President o'er our countryG
He proved faithful to the endD2
His career on earth was endedD
Eighteen Forty Five is seenE2
As a star his name is shiningM
The hero of New OrleansS
