He is sleeping sounding sleepingA
In the cold and silent tombB
He is resting sweetly restingA
In perfect peace all aloneC
-
He has left us God bereft usD
And his will must e'er be doneE
It will grieve us and bereave usD
To think of this noble sonE
-
While on earth he done his dutyF
To all his fellow menG
Some will miss him in his of officeD
Where he often used the penG
-
He was witty always happyF
Kind and genial in his wayH
He was generous in his actionsI
And his honor could displayH
-
He has held many an officeD
And has done his duty wellJ
And his name will be rememberedK
By the friends that knew him wellJ
-
Friends are weeping softly weepingA
In his kind and loving homeL
Let him slumber sweetly slumberM
Till God calls him from the tombB
