The Golden Shoes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED CFGF HDHDIDJD CKLK MJMJNDOD CFGF

The winds are lashing on the seaA
The roads are blind with stormB
And it's far and far away with meA
So bide you there stay warmB
It's forth I must and forth to dayC
And I have no path to chooseD
The highway hill it is my way stillE
Give me my golden shoesD
-
God gave them me on that first dayC
I knew that I was youngF
And I looked far forth from west to northG
And I heard the Songs unsungF
-
This cloak is worn too threadbare thinH
But ah how weatherwiseD
This girdle serves to bind it inH
What heed of wondering eyesD
And yet beside I wear one prideI
Too bright think you to useD
That I must wear and still keep fairJ
Give here my golden shoesD
-
God gave them me on that first dayC
I heard the Stars all chimeK
And I looked forth far from road to starL
And I knew it was far to climbK
-
They would buy me house and hearth no doubtM
And the mirth to spend and shareJ
Could I sell that gift and go withoutM
Or wear what neighbors wearJ
But take my staff my purse my scripN
For I have one thing to chooseD
For you Godspeed May you soothe your needO
For me my golden shoesD
-
He gave them me that far first dayC
When I heard all Songs unsungF
And I looked far forth from west to northG
God saw that I was youngF
