Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFFGGHHIIJJDDKK LLLOld November sere and brown | A |
Clothes the country haunts the town | A |
Sheds its cloak of withered leaves | B |
Brings its sighing soughing breeze | C |
Prophet of the dying year | D |
Builder of its funeral bier | E |
Bring your message here to men | F |
Sound it forth that they may ken | F |
What of Life and what of Death | G |
Linger on your frosty breath | G |
Let men know to you are given | H |
Days of thanks to God in heaven | H |
Thanks for things which we deem best | I |
Thanks O God for all the rest | I |
That have taught us trouble strife | J |
Bring thru Death a larger life | J |
Death of our base self and fear | D |
Even as the dying year | D |
Though through cold and frost shall bring | K |
Forth a new and glorious spring | K |
Shall shed over us the sway | L |
Of a new and brighter day | L |
With Hope Faith and Love alway | L |
