Moloch Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDDD AEAE FDFD

Old Moloch walks the way tonightA
On Flander's poppied fieldB
Where foe meets foe in steel and mightA
And never one shall yieldB
-
Old Moloch of the fiery shrineC
Deep in the throes of painD
Cries for the bleeding anodyneD
Of flesh of youths againD
-
Heart of my heart went out tonightA
Where Moloch holds the wayE
To lads of brown and black and whiteA
Who blazon Freedom's dayE
-
Tear down the shrine of Moloch thereF
From crimson field and glenD
Tear down the shrine of Moloch whereF
It shames the hearts of menD
