Lines To A Lady, On Hearing Her Sing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE DFGC

Yes heaven protect thee thou gem of the oceanA
Dear land of my sires though distant thy shoresB
Ere my heart cease to love thee its latest emotionA
The last dying throbs of its pulse must be o'erC
-
And dark were the bosom and cold and unfeelingD
That tamely could listen unmoved at the callE
When woman the warm soul of melody stealingD
Laments for her country and sighs o'er its fallE
-
Sing on gentle warbler the tear drop appearingD
Shall fall for the woes of the queen of the seaF
And the spirit that breathes in the harp of green ErinG
Descending shall hail thee her CushlamachreeC
