Elegy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACDE FGGHIH JHJKL HHMNMAbout a year has passed I've returned to the place of the battle | A |
to its birds that have learned their unfolding of wings | B |
from a subtle | A |
lift of a surprised eyebrow or perhaps from a razor blade | C |
wings now the shade of early twilight now of state | D |
bad blood | E |
- | |
Now the place is abuzz with trading | F |
in your ankles's remnants bronzes | G |
of sunburnt breastplates dying laughter bruises | G |
rumors of fresh reserves memories of high treason | H |
laundered banners with imprints of the many | I |
who since have risen | H |
- | |
All's overgrown with people A ruin's a rather stubborn | J |
architectural style And the hearts's distinction | H |
from a pitch black cavern | J |
isn't that great not great enough to fear | K |
that we may collide again like blind eggs somewhere | L |
- | |
At sunrise when nobody stares at one's face I often | H |
set out on foot to a monument cast in molten | H |
lengthy bad dreams And it says on the plinth commander | M |
in chief But it reads in grief or in brief | N |
or in going under | M |
