Elegy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDE FGGHIH JHJKL HHMNM

About a year has passed I've returned to the place of the battleA
to its birds that have learned their unfolding of wingsB
from a subtleA
lift of a surprised eyebrow or perhaps from a razor bladeC
wings now the shade of early twilight now of stateD
bad bloodE
-
Now the place is abuzz with tradingF
in your ankles's remnants bronzesG
of sunburnt breastplates dying laughter bruisesG
rumors of fresh reserves memories of high treasonH
laundered banners with imprints of the manyI
who since have risenH
-
All's overgrown with people A ruin's a rather stubbornJ
architectural style And the hearts's distinctionH
from a pitch black cavernJ
isn't that great not great enough to fearK
that we may collide again like blind eggs somewhereL
-
At sunrise when nobody stares at one's face I oftenH
set out on foot to a monument cast in moltenH
lengthy bad dreams And it says on the plinth commanderM
in chief But it reads in grief or in briefN
or in going underM
