Belfast Tune Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIJI

Here's a girl from a dangerous townA
She crops her dark hair shortB
so that less of her has to frownA
when someone gets hurtC
-
She folds her memories like a parachuteD
Dropped she collects the peatE
and cooks her veggies at home they shootD
here where they eatE
-
Ah there's more sky in these parts than sayF
ground Hence her voice's pitchG
and her stare stains your retina like a grayF
bulb when you switchG
-
hemispheres and her knee length quiltH
skirt's cut to catch the squallI
I dream of her either loved or killedJ
because the town's too smallI
