The Spacious Firmament On High Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGEEEEHH IIJJ

The Spacious Firmament on highA
With all the blue Ethereal SkyA
And spangled Heav'ns a Shining FrameB
Their great Original proclaimB
Th' unwearied Sun from day to dayC
Does his Creator's Pow'r displayC
And publishes to every LandD
The Work of an Almighty HandD
-
Soon as the Evening Shades prevailE
The Moon takes up the wondrous TaleE
And nightly to the list'ning EarthF
Repeats the Story of her BirthF
Whilst all the Stars that round her burnG
And all the Planets in their turnG
Confirm the Tidings as they rowlE
And spread the Truth from Pole to PoleE
What though in solemn Silence allE
Move round the dark terrestrial BallE
What tho' nor real Voice nor SoundH
Amid their radiant Orbs be foundH
-
In Reason's Ear they all rejoiceI
And utter forth a glorious VoiceI
For ever singing as they shineJ
The Hand that made us is DivineJ
