How Are Thy Servants Blest, O Lord! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGF HIJI KLML ANFN OPQP RNSN

How are Thy servants blest O LordA
How sure is their defenseB
Eternal wisdom is their guideC
Their help OmnipotenceD
-
In foreign realms and lands remoteE
Supported by Thy careF
Through burning climes they pass unhurtG
And breathe in tainted airF
-
When by the dreadful tempest borneH
High on the broken waveI
They know Thou art not slow to herJ
Nor impotent to saveI
-
The storm is laid the winds retireK
Obedient to Thy willL
The sea that roars at Thy commandM
At Thy command is stillL
-
From all our griefs and fears O LordA
Thy mercy sets us freeN
While in the confidence of prayerF
Our hearts take hold on TheeN
-
In midst of dangers fears and deathO
Thy goodness we adoreP
We praise Thee for Thy mercies pastQ
And humbly hope for moreP
-
Our life while Thou preservest lifeR
A sacrifice shall beN
And death when death shall be our lotS
Shall join our souls to TheeN
