In Patris Mei Memoriam Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCEEBy the fond name that was his own and mine | A |
The last upon his lips that strove with doom | B |
He called me and I saw the light assume | B |
A sudden glory and around him shine | A |
And nearer now I saw the laureled line | A |
Of the august of Song before me loom | B |
And knew the voices erstwhile through the gloom | B |
That whispered and forbade me to repine | A |
And with farewell a shaft of splendor sank | C |
Out of the stars and faded as a flame | D |
And down the night on clouds of glory came | D |
The battle seraphs halting rank on rank | C |
And lifted heavenward to heroic peace | E |
He passed and left me hope beyond surcease | E |
