In Patris Mei Memoriam Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCEE

By the fond name that was his own and mineA
The last upon his lips that strove with doomB
He called me and I saw the light assumeB
A sudden glory and around him shineA
And nearer now I saw the laureled lineA
Of the august of Song before me loomB
And knew the voices erstwhile through the gloomB
That whispered and forbade me to repineA
And with farewell a shaft of splendor sankC
Out of the stars and faded as a flameD
And down the night on clouds of glory cameD
The battle seraphs halting rank on rankC
And lifted heavenward to heroic peaceE
He passed and left me hope beyond surceaseE
