To My Lord Fairfax Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCDC

Fairfax whose Name in Arms through Europe ringsA
And fills all Mouths with Envy or with PraiseB
And all her Jealous Monarchs with AmazeB
And Rumours loud which daunt remotest KingsA
Thy firm unshaken Valour ever bringsA
Victory home while new Rebellions raiseB
Their Hydra heads and the false North displaysB
Her broken League to Imp her Serpent WingsA
O yet a Nobler task awaits thy HandC
For what can War but Acts of War still breedD
Till injur'd Truth from Violence be freedD
And publick Faith be rescu'd from the BrandC
Of publick Fraud in vain doth Valour bleedD
While Avarice and Rapine shares the LandC
