Sonnets. Xvii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABCADEDFFE

Lawrence of vertuous Father vertuous SonA
Now that the Fields are dank and ways are mireB
Where shall we sometimes meet and by the fireC
Help wast a sullen day what may be WonA
From the hard Season gaining time will runA
On smoother till Favonius re inspireB
The frozen earth and cloth in fresh attireC
The Lillie and Rose that neither sow'd nor spunA
What neat repast shall feast us light and choiceD
Of Attick tast with Wine whence we may riseE
To hear the Lute well toucht or artfull voiceD
Warble immortal Notes and Tuskan AyreF
He who of those delights can judge and spareF
To interpose them oft is not unwiseE

John Milton
