Sonnets. Xiv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBADEDEDEWhen Faith and Love which parted from thee never | A |
Had ripen'd thy just soul to dwell with God | B |
Meekly thou didst resign this earthy load | C |
Of Death call'd Life which us from Life doth sever | A |
Thy Works and Alms and all thy good Endeavour | A |
Staid not behind nor in the grave were trod | B |
But as Faith pointed with her golden rod | B |
Follow'd thee up to joy and bliss for ever | A |
Love led them on and Faith who knew them best | D |
Thy hand maids clad them o're with purple beams | E |
And azure wings that up they flew so drest | D |
And speak the truth of thee on glorious Theams | E |
Before the Judge who thenceforth bid thee rest | D |
And drink thy fill of pure immortal streams | E |
