Sonnets. Ix Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDELady that in the prime of earliest youth | A |
Wisely hath shun'd the broad way and the green | B |
And with those few art eminently seen | B |
That labour up the Hill of heav'nly Truth | A |
The better part with Mary and with Ruth | A |
Chosen thou hast and they that overween | B |
And at thy growing vertues fret their spleen | B |
No anger find in thee but pity and ruth | A |
Thy care is fixt and zealously attends | C |
To fill thy odorous Lamp with deeds of light | D |
And Hope that reaps not shame Therefore be sure | E |
Thou when the Bridegroom with his feastfull friends | C |
Passes to bliss at the mid hour of night | D |
Hast gain'd thy entrance Virgin wise and pure | E |
