How lovely are thy dwellings fairA
O Lord of Hoasts how dearB
The pleasant Tabernacles areC
Where thou do'st dwell so nearB
My Soul doth long and almost dieD
Thy Courts O Lord to seeE
My heart and flesh aloud do crieB
O living God for theeE
There ev'n the Sparrow freed from wrongF
Hath found a house of restG
The Swallow there to lay her youngH
Hath built her brooding nestG
Ev'n by thy Altars Lord of HoastsE
They find their safe abodeI
And home they fly from round the CoastsE
Toward thee My King my GodJ
Happy who in thy house resideK
Where thee they ever praiseE
Happy whose strength in thee doth bideK
And in their hearts thy waiesE
They pass through Baca's thirstie ValeL
That dry and barren groundM
As through a fruitfull watry DaleL
Where Springs and Showrs aboundM
They journey on from strength to strengthN
With joy and gladsom cheerB
Till all before our God at lengthN
In Sion do appearB
Lord God of Hoasts hear now my praierB
O Jacobs God give earB
Thou God our shield look on the faceE
Of thy anointed dearB
For one day in thy Courts to beE
Is better and mere blestG
Then in the joyes of VanityE
A thousand daies at bestG
I in the temple of my GodJ
Had rather keep a doreB
Then dwell in Tents and rich abodeI
With Sin for evermoreB
For God the Lord both Sun and ShieldO
Gives grace and glory brightP
No good from him shall be with heldQ
Whose waies are just and rightP
Lord God of Hoasts that raign 'st on highD
That man is truly blestG
Who only on thee doth relieL
And in thee only restG
