Why do the Gentiles tumult and the Nations | B |
Muse a vain thing the Kings of th'earth upstand | A |
With power and Princes in their Congregations | B |
Lay deep their plots together through each Land | A |
Against the Lord and his Messiah dear | C |
Let us break off say they by strength of hand | A |
Their bonds and cast from us no more to wear | D |
Their twisted cords he who in Heaven doth dwell | E |
Shall laugh the Lord shall scoff them then severe | C |
Speak to them in his wrath and in his fell | E |
And fierce ire trouble them but I saith hee | F |
Anointed have my King though ye rebell | E |
On Sion my holi' hill A firm decree | F |
I will declare the Lord to me hath say'd | A |
Thou art my Son I have begotten thee | F |
This day ask of me and the grant is made | A |
As thy possession I on thee bestow | A |
Th'Heathen and as thy conquest to be sway'd | A |
Earths utmost bounds them shalt thou bring full low | A |
With Iron Sceptir bruis'd and them disperse | G |
Like to a potters vessel shiver'd so | A |
And now be wise at length ye Kings averse | G |
Be taught ye Judges of the earth with fear | C |
Jehovah serve and let your joy converse | G |
With trembling Kiss the Son least he appear | C |
In anger and ye perish in the way | H |
If once his wrath take fire like fuel sere | C |
Happy all those who have in him their stay | H |
