Lord my God to thee I flieA
Save me and secure me underB
Thy protection while I crieB
Least as a Lion and no wonderB
He hast to tear my Soul asunderB
Tearing and no rescue nighC
-
Lord my God if I have thoughtD
Or done this if wickednessE
Be in my hands if I have wroughtD
Ill to him that meant me peaceF
Or to him have render'd lessG
And fre'd my foe for naughtD
-
Let th'enemy pursue my soulA
And overtake it let him treadH
My life down to the earth and roulA
In the dust my glory deadH
In the dust and there out spreadH
Lodge it with dishonour foulA
-
Rise Jehovah in thine ireB
Rouze thy self amidst the rageI
Of my foes that urge like fireB
And wake for me their furi' asswageI
Judgment here thou didst ingageI
And command which I desireB
-
So th' assemblies of each NationJ
Will surround thee seeking rightK
Thence to thy glorious habitationJ
Return on high and in their sightK
Jehovah judgeth most uprightK
All people from the worlds foundationJ
-
Judge me Lord be judge in thisL
According to my righteousnessE
And the innocence which isM
Upon me cause at length to ceaseF
Of evil men the wickednessE
And their power that do amissL
-
But the just establish fastN
Since thou art the just God that triesO
Hearts and reins On God is castN
My defence and in him liesO
In him who both just and wiseO
Saves th' upright of Heart at lastN
-
God is a just Judge and severeB
And God is every day offendedP
If th' unjust will not forbearB
His Sword he whets his Bow hath bendedQ
Already and for him intendedP
The tools of death that waits him nearB
-
His arrows purposely made heR
For them that persecute BeholdS
He travels big with vanitieS
Trouble he hath conceav'd of oldS
As in a womb and from that mouldS
Hath at length brought forth a LieA
-
He dig'd a pit and delv'd it deepT
And fell into the pit he madeS
His mischief that due course doth keepT
Turns on his head and his ill tradeS
Of violence will undelay'dS
Fall on his crown with ruine steepT
-
Then will I Jehovah's praiseU
According to his justice raiseU
And sing the Name and DeitieS
Of Jehovah the most highA
