Methought I Saw My Late Espoused Saint Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCADEDEEE

Methought I saw my late espoused SaintA
Brought to me like Alcestis from the graveB
Who Jove's great Son to her glad Husband gaveB
Rescu'd from death by force though pale and faintA
Mine as whom washt from spot of child bed taintA
Purification in the old Law did saveB
And such as yet once more I trust to haveC
Full sight of her in Heav'n without restraintA
Came vested all in white pure as her mindD
Her face was veil'd yet to my fancied sightE
Love sweetness goodness in her person shin'dD
So clear as in no face with more delightE
But O as to embrace me she enclin'dE
I wak'd she fled and day brought back my nightE
