Sonnet. Why Did I Laugh Tonight? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHH

Why did I laugh to night No voice will tellA
No God no Demon of severe responseB
Deigns to reply from Heaven or from HellA
Then to my human heart I turn at onceC
Heart Thou and I are here sad and aloneD
I say why did I laugh O mortal painE
O Darkness Darkness ever must I moanD
To question Heaven and Hell and Heart in vainE
Why did I laugh I know this Being's leaseF
My fancy to its utmost blisses spreadsG
Yet would I on this very midnight ceaseF
And all the world's gaudy ensigns see in shredsG
Verse Fame and Beauty are intense indeedH
But Death intenser Death is Life's high meedH
