Sonnet: Before He Went Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFDG

BEFORE he went to feed with owls and batsA
Nebuchadnezzar had an ugly dreamB
Worse than an Hus'if's when she thinks her creamB
Made a Naumachia for mice and ratsA
So scared he sent for that 'Good King of Cats'A
Young Daniel who soon did pluck away the beamB
From out his eye and said he did not deemB
The sceptre worth a straw his Cushions old door matsA
A horrid nightmare similar somewhatC
Of late has haunted a most motley crewD
Most loggerheads and Chapmen we are toldE
That any Daniel tho' he be a sotF
Can make the lying lips turn pale of hueD
By belching out 'ye are that head of Gold 'G
