On First Looking Into Chapman's Homer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAACCADCDCDC

Much have I travell'd in the realms of goldA
And many goodly states and kingdoms seenB
Round many western islands have I beenC
Which bards in fealty to Apollo holdA
Oft of one wide expanse had I been toldA
That deep brow'd Homer ruled as his demesneC
Yet did I never breathe its pure sereneC
Till I heard Chapman speak out loud and boldA
Then felt I like some watcher of the skiesD
When a new planet swims into his kenC
Or like stout Cortez when with eagle eyesD
He star'd at the Pacific and all his menC
Look'd at each other with a wild surmiseD
Silent upon a peak in DarienC
