| Nigh to its close besought all men to say | B |
| Whom he had wronged to whom he then should pay | B |
| A debt forgotten or for pardon sue | A |
| And through the silence of his weeping friends | C |
| A strange voice cried 'Thou owest me a debt ' | D |
| 'Allah be praised ' he answered 'Even yet | E |
| He gives me power to make to thee amends | C |
| O friend I thank thee for thy timely word ' | D |
| So runs the tale Its lesson all may heed | F |
| For all have sinned in thought or word or deed | F |
| Or like the Prophet through neglect have erred | G |
| All need forgiveness all have debts to pay | B |
