Cur And Mastiff Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGBBHHGG IIGG GGBBGG GG

A sneaking cur caused much disasterA
By pandering scandal for his masterA
The hound was beaten mastiff chiddenB
Puss in disgrace and pug forbiddenB
Each of his dearest chum grew shyC
And none could tell a reason whyC
Burglars to rob the house laid waitD
Betty in love undid the gateD
The cur was won by dint of meatE
Remained the mastiff dog to cheatE
The mastiff dog refused the bribeF
And tore the hand of one besideG
The cur off with the tidings ranB
And told how he had bit a manB
The master said Hanged he shall beH
They dragged poor Trusty to the treeH
He met his master and averredG
That he had been condemned unheardG
-
His lord then sat to hear the trialI
The mastiff pleaded his denialI
The cur then special pleading statedG
The case unduly aggravatedG
-
When evidence on either sideG
Concluded was the dog repliedG
And ended with this perorationB
Trust not to curs of basest stationB
With itching palms a plot is laidG
And man and master are betrayedG
-
The mastiff had with truth haranguedG
The truth appeared the cur was hangedG
