Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFEG HIHJ FKFD

In the hush of early evenA
The clouds came flocking overB
Till the last wind fell from heavenC
And no bird criedD
-
Darkly the clouds were flockingE
Shadows moved and deepenedF
Then paused the poplar's rockingE
Ceased the light hung stillG
-
Like a painted thing and deadlyH
Then from the cloud's side flickeredI
Sharp lightning thrusting madlyH
At the cowering fieldsJ
-
Thrice the fierce cloud lighten'dF
Down the hill slow thunder trembledK
Day in her cave grew frightenedF
Crept away and diedD
