Smoke Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHCIJKLIMNIOPQ

They stood like men that hear immortal speechA
Moving among their branches and like treesB
We stood and watched them and in our still branchesC
Echoes of that immortal music stirredD
October days had touched their breasts with lightE
With yellow light and red light and wan greenF
And the gray cloud that grew from low to highG
Made the warm light more warm the green more wanH
We stood and watched them and in our still branchesC
We felt the warm light glow though now the rainI
Was loud upon the leavesJ
And standing thereK
You cried O that sweet smell where is the fireL
Where is the fire For sharp upon the rainI
The smell came of a wood fire and clung roundM
Hanging upon our branches till we sawN
No more those lighted trees nor heard the rainI
Knew only the deep echoes and the smellO
Of a wood fire that breathed its smoke acrossP
From some near hearth or undiscovered worldQ
