Nowhere, Everywhere Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFFGGCCHHIJKL AAMMNNOOPQRRSSTU

Flesh and blood bone and skinA
Are the house that beauty lives inA
Formed in darkness grown in lightB
Are they the substance of delightB
Who could have dreamed the things he seesC
In these strong lovely presencesD
In cheeks of children thews of menE
Women's bodies beloved of menE
Who could have dreamed a thing so wiseF
As that clear look of the child's eyesF
Who the thin texture of her handG
But with a hand's touch understandG
Shaped in eternity were theseC
Body's miracles where the seasC
Their continuous rhythm learnedH
And the stars in their bright order burnedH
From stars and seas was motion caughtI
When flesh blood bone and skin were wroughtJ
Into swift lovely livelinessK
Oh but beauty less and lessL
Than beauty grows The cheeks fall inA
Colour dies from the smooth skinA
And muscles slack and bones are brittleM
Veins and arteries little by littleM
Delay the tides of the bloodN
That is a ditch that was a floodN
Then all but dry bones disappearsO
White bones that lie a hundred yearsO
Cheated of resurrectionP
Where is that beauty goneQ
Escaped even while we watched it soR
And none guessed the way it would goR
Only it's fled and here aloneS
Lie blood and skin and flesh and boneS
Where is the beauty that was hereT
Nowhere everywhereU
