Happy Is England Now Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDB EEFGDH IDJJDD KKDLKD

There is not anything more wonderfulA
Than a great people moving towards the deepB
Of an unguessed and unfeared future norC
Is aught so dear of all held dear beforeC
As the new passion stirring in their veinsD
When the destroying Dragon wakes from sleepB
-
Happy is England now as never yetE
And though the sorrows of the slow days fretE
Her faithfullest children grief itself is proudF
Ev'n the warm beauty of this spring and summerG
That turns to bitterness turns then to gladnessD
Since for this England the beloved ones diedH
-
Happy is England in the brave that dieI
For wrongs not hers and wrongs so sternly hersD
Happy in those that give give and endureJ
The pain that never the new years may cureJ
Happy in all her dark woods green fields townsD
Her hills and rivers and her chafing seaD
-
Whate'er was dear before is dearer nowK
There's not a bird singing upon his boughK
But sings the sweeter in our English earsD
There's not a nobleness of heart hand brainL
But shines the purer happiest is England nowK
In those that fight and watch with pride and tearsD
