Fair Eve Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEEE FFGG HHII JJKK LLMM NOPP

Fair Eve as fair and stillA
As fairest thought climbs the high sheltering hillA
As still and fairB
As the white cloud asleep in the deep airB
-
As cool as fair and coolC
As starlight swimming in a lonely poolC
Subtle and mildD
As through her eyes the soul looks of a childD
-
A linnet sings and singsE
A shrill swift cleaves the air with blackest wingsE
White twinkletailsE
Run frankly in their meadow as day failsE
-
On such a night a nightF
That seems but the full sleep of tired lightF
I look and waitG
For what I know not looking long and lateG
-
Is it for a dream I lookH
A vision from the Tree of Heaven shookH
As sweetness shakenI
From the fresh limes on lonely ways forsakenI
-
A dream of one maybeJ
Who comes like sudden wind from overseaJ
Or most loved swallowK
Whom all fair days and golden musics followK
-
More sudden yet more strangeL
Than magic airs on magic hills that rangeL
Of one who'll steepM
The soul in soft forgetfulness ere it sleepM
-
Yes down the hillside roadN
Where Eve's unhasty feet so gently trodO
Follow His feetP
Whose leaf like echoes make even spring more sweetP
