Discovery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIIJJKGABLBDH MANON

Beauty walked over the hills and made them brightA
She in the long fresh grass scattered her rainsB
Sparkling and glittering like a host of starsC
But not like stars cold severe terribleD
Hers was the laughter of the wind that leapedE
Arm full of shadows flinging them far and wideF
Hers the bright light within the quick greenG
Of every new leaf on the oldest treeH
It was her swimming made the river runI
Shining as the sunI
Her voice escaped from winter's chill and darkJ
Singing in the incessant larkJ
All this was hers yet all this had not beenK
Except 'twas seenG
It was my eyes Beauty that made thee brightA
My ears that heard the blood leaping in my veinsB
The vehemence of transfiguring thoughtL
Not lights and shadows birds grasses and rainsB
That made thy wonders wonderfulD
For it has been Beauty that I have seen theeH
Tedious as a painted cloth at a bad playM
Empty of meaning and so of all delightA
Now thou hast blessed me with a great pure blissN
Shaking thy rainy light all over the earthO
And I have paid thee with my thankfulnessN
