The Undertaking Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGHG IHIH JHJH HKHK ABAB

I have done one braver thingA
Than all the Worthies didB
And yet a braver thence doth springA
Which is to keep that hidB
-
It were but madness now t'impartC
The skill of specular stoneD
When he which can have learn'd the artC
To cut it can find noneE
-
So if I now should utter thisF
Others because no moreG
Such stuff to work upon there isH
Would love but as beforeG
-
But he who loveliness withinI
Hath found all outward loathesH
For he who colour loves and skinI
Loves but their oldest clothesH
-
If as I have you also doJ
Virtue attir'd in woman seeH
And dare love that and say so tooJ
And forget the He and SheH
-
And if this love though placed soH
From profane men you hideK
Which will no faith on this bestowH
Or if they do derideK
-
Then you have done a braver thingA
Than all the Worthies didB
And a braver thence will springA
Which is to keep that hidB
