The Curse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCC DEEDDFFG DHHDDIII JDDJKDDD

Whoever guesses thinks or dreams he knowsA
Who is my mistress wither by this curseB
Him only for his purseB
May some dull whore to love disposeA
And then yield unto all that are his foesA
May he be scorn'd by one whom all else scornC
Forswear to others what to her he hath swornC
With fear of missing shame of getting tornC
-
Madness his sorrow gout his cramps may heD
Make by but thinking who hath made him suchE
And may he feel no touchE
Of conscience but of fame and beD
Anguish'd not that 'twas sin but that 'twas sheD
Or may he for her virtue reverenceF
One that hates him only for impotenceF
And equal traitors be she and his senseG
-
May he dream treason and believe that heD
Meant to perform it and confesses and dieH
And no record tell whyH
His sons which none of his may beD
Inherit nothing but his infamyD
Or may he so long parasites have fedI
That he would fain be theirs whom he hath bredI
And at the last be circumcised for breadI
-
The venom of all stepdames gamesters' gallJ
What tyrants and their subjects interwishD
What plants mine beasts fowl fishD
Can contribute all ill which allJ
Prophets or poets spake and all which shallK
Be annex'd in schedules unto this by meD
Fall on that man For if it be a sheD
Nature beforehand hath out curs d meD
