Holy Sonnet Xiii: What If This Present Were The World's Last Night? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECAA

What if this present were the world's last nightA
Mark in my heart O soul where thou dost dwellB
The picture of Christ crucified and tellB
Whether that countenance can thee affrightA
Tears in his eyes quench the amazing lightA
Blood fills his frowns which from his pierced head fellB
And can that tongue adjudge thee unto hellB
Which prayed forgiveness for his foes' fierce spiteA
No no but as in my idolatryC
I said to all my profane mistressesD
Beauty of pity foulness only isE
A sign of rigour so I say to theeC
To wicked spirits are horrid shapes assignedA
This beauteous form assures a piteous mindA
