Holy Sonnet X: Death Be Not Proud Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCAE

Death be not proud though some have call egrave d theeA
Mighty and dreadful for thou art not soB
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrowB
Die not poor death nor yet canst thou kill meA
From rest and sleep which yet thy pictures beA
Much pleasure then from thee much more must flowB
And soonest our best men with thee do goB
Rest of their bones and soul's deliveryA
Thou art slave to fate chance kings and desperate menC
And dost with poison war and sickness dwellD
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as wellD
And better than thy stroke why swell'st thou thenC
One short sleep past we wake eternallyA
And death shall be no more death thou shalt dieE
