From -the Cross- Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFBBGGHHIIJJ BB

Who can blot out the Cross which th instrumentA
Of God dew d on me in the SacramentA
Who can deny me power and libertyB
To stretch mine arms and mine own Cross to beB
Swim and at every stroke thou art thy CrossC
The Mast and yard make one where seas do tossC
Look down thou spiest out Crosses in small thingsD
Look up thou seest birds rais d on crossed wingsD
All the Globes frame and spheres is nothing elseE
But the Meridians crossing ParallelsF
Material Crosses then good physic beeB
But yet spiritual have chief dignityB
These for extracted chemic medicine serveG
And cure much better and as well preserveG
Then are you your own physic or need noneH
When Still d or purg d by tribulationH
For when that Cross ungrudg d unto you sticksI
Then are you to your self a CrucifixI
As perchance Carvers do not faces makeJ
But that away which hid them there do takeJ
Let Crosses so take what hid Christ in theeB
And be his image or not his but heB
