The Offended Moon - (twelve Translations From Charles Baudelaire) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDD ECE

O moon O lamp of hill and secret daleA
Thou whom our fathers ages out of mindB
Worshipped in thy blue heaven whilst behindB
Thy stars streamed after thee a glittering trailA
-
Dost see the poet weary eyed and paleA
Or lovers on their happy beds reclinedB
Showing white teeth in sleep or vipers twinedB
'Neath the dry sward or in a golden veilA
-
Stealest thou with faint footfall o'er the grassC
As of old to kiss from twilight unto dawnD
The faded charms of thine EndymionD
-
O child of this sick century I seeE
Thy grey haired mother leering in her glassC
And plastering the breast that suckled theeE
