Artemis Altera Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC DEAE CFCF GHIH

O full of candour and compassionA
Whom love and worship both would praiseB
Love cannot frame nor worship fashionA
The image of your fearless waysB
-
How show your noble brow's dark pallorC
Your chivalrous casque of ebon hairC
Your eyes' bright strength your lips' soft valourC
Your supple shoulders and hands that dareC
-
Our souls when na vely you examineD
Your sword of innocence flaming hugeE
Sweeps over us and there is famineA
Within the ports of subterfugeE
-
You hate contempt and love not laughterC
With your sharp spear of virgin willF
You harry the wicked strong but afterC
O huntress who could never killF
-
Should they be trodden down or piercedG
Swift swift you fly with burning cheekH
To place your beauty's shield reversedI
Above the vile defenceless weakH
