Acacia Tree Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CDEF GHIJ KLMLI NALLOIP QLLR

All the trees and bushes of the gardenA
Display their bright new greenB
-
But above them all still bareC
The great old acacia standsD
His solitary bent black branches starkE
Against the garden and the skyF
-
It is as though those other thoughtless shrubsG
The winter over hastened to rejoiceH
And clothe themselves in spring's new fineryI
Heedless of all the iron time behind themJ
-
But he older and wiser stronger and sadder of heartK
Remembers still the cruel winter and knowsL
That in some months that death will come againM
And for a season lonelily meditatesL
Above his lighter companions' frivolityI
-
Till some late sunny day when breaking thoughtN
He'll suddenly yield to the fickle persuasive sunA
And over all his rough and writhing boughsL
And tiniest twigsL
Will spread a pale green mist of feathery leafO
More delicate more touching than all the verdureI
Of the younger slenderer gracefuller plants aroundP
-
And then when the leaves have grownQ
Till the boughs can scarcely be seen through their crowded plumesL
There will softly glimmer scattered upon him bloomsL
Ivory white in the green weightlessly hangingR
