Mark Antony Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFFE GHIJKKKEFFE ALAMNNEOFFE APAQFFEEEEE

Whenas the nightingale chanted her vespersA
And the wild forester couched on the groundB
Venus invited me in th' evening whispersA
Unto a fragrant field with roses crownedB
Where she before had sentC
My wishes' complementD
Unto my heart's contentC
Played with me on the greenE
Never Mark AntonyF
Dallied more wantonlyF
With the fair Egyptian QueenE
-
First on her cherry cheeks I mine eyes feastedG
Thence fear surfeiting made me retireH
Next on her warmer lips which when I tastedI
My duller spirits made active as fireJ
Then we began to dartK
Each at another's heartK
Arrows that knew no smartK
Sweet lips and smiles betweenE
Never Mark AntonyF
Dallied more wantonlyF
With the fair Egyptian QueenE
-
Wanting a glass to plait her amber tressesA
Which like a bracelet rich decked mine armL
Gaudier than Juno wears whenas she gracesA
Jove with embraces more stately than warmM
Then did she peep in mineN
Eyes' humor crystallineN
I in her eyes was seenE
As if we one had beenO
Never Mark AntonyF
Dallied more wantonlyF
With the fair Egyptian QueenE
-
Mystical grammar of amorous glancesA
Feeling of pulses the physic of loveP
Rhetorical courtings and musical dancesA
Numb'ring of kisses arithmetic proveQ
Eyes like astronomyF
Straight limbed geometryF
In her art's ingenyE
Our wits were sharp and keenE
Never Mark AntonyE
Dallied more wantonlyE
With the fair Egyptian QueenE
