Valentine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB ACACAC ADADAD AAAAAA

This is the time for birds to mateA
To day the doveB
Will mark the ancient amorous dateA
With moans of loveB
The crow will change his call to prateA
His hopes thereofB
-
The starling will display the redA
That lights his wingsC
The wren will know the sweet things saidA
By him who swingsC
And ducks and dips his crested headA
And sings and singsC
-
They are obedient to their bloodA
Nor ask a signD
Save buoyant air and swelling budA
At hands divineD
But choose each in the barren woodA
His valentineD
-
In caution's maze they never waitA
Until they dieA
They flock the season's open gateA
Ere time steals byA
Love shall we see and imitateA
You love and IA
