Barefooted Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFFGGHH IFJFKLKLMMNOON

The girls all like to see the bluets in the laneA
And the saucy johnny jump ups in the meadowB
But we boys we want to see the dogwood blooms againC
Throwin' a sort of summer lookin' shadowB
For the very first mild mornin' when the woods are whiteD
And we needn't even ask a soul about itE
We leave our shoes right where we pulled them off at nightD
And barefooted once again we run and shout itE
You may take the country overF
When the bluebird turns a roverF
And the wind is soft and hazyG
And you feel a little lazyG
And the hunters quit the possumsH
It's the time for dogwood blossomsH
-
We feel so light we wish there were more fences hereI
We'd like to jump and jump them all togetherF
No sleds for us no guns nor even 'simmon beerJ
No nothin' but the blossoms and fair weatherF
The meadow is a little sticky right at firstK
But a few short days 'll wipe away that troubleL
To feel so good and gay I wouldn't mind the worstK
That could be done by any field o' stubbleL
O all the trees are seemin' sappyM
O all the folks are smilin' happyM
And there's joy in every little bit of roomN
But the happiest of them allO
At the Shanghai rooster's callO
Are we barefoots when the dogwoods burst abloomN
