Emma 'tis early time for theeA
To hear the sounds of minstrelsyB
That breathe around the rosy shrineC
Of honest old Saint ValentineC

Too young art thou for strains of loveD
'Tis not thy passion I would moveE
Instead of lover's strains I sendF
The cordial wishes of a friendF
-
Nobly has Nature done her dutyA
To give thee of thy mother's beautyA
So large a share oh then be thineC
The mental charms that in her shineC
-
And may thy father's taste refin'dG
Still add new graces to thy mindG
And may'st thou to each charm impartH
The gen'rous frankness of his heartH
-
Then my sweet Emma thou shall moveE
In many a heart more genuine loveD
Than ever warm'd poetic lineC
Or sigh'd in any ValentineC
