Sonnet Upon A Swedish Cottage, Written On The Road, Within A Few Miles Of Stockholm. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEFGG

Here far from all the pomp Ambition seeksA
Much sought but only whilst untasted prais'dB
Content and Innocence with rosy cheeksA
Enjoy the simple shed their hands have rais'dB
-
On a gray rock it stands whose fretted baseC
The distant cat'ract's murm'ring waters laveD
Whilst o'er its mossy roof with varying graceC
The slender branches of the white birch waveD
-
Around the forest fir is heard to sighE
On which the pensive ear delights to dwellF
Whilst as the gazing trav'ller passes byE
The gray goat starting sounds his tinkling bellF
Oh in my native land ere life's declineG
May such a spot so wild so sweet be mineG
