Lines To Sir Robert Ker Porter, Knight Of The Imperial Order Of St. Joachim Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB DEED FGGG HEEH GIIG

Upon His Approaching Nuptials With The Princess ShebatoffA
-
-
To save the credit of the dameB
Poets and painters all agreeC
That Mistress Fortune cannot seeC
And on her bandage cast the blameB
-
When honours on th' unworthy waitD
When riches to the wealthy flowE
When high desert oppress'd by woeE
Is left to struggle on with FateD
-
But Porter when on thee she smil'dF
The fillet from her eyes she mov'dG
To view the merit all approv'dG
A mind inform'd a heart unsoil'dG
-
She saw thy virtues bright appearH
A son that mothers seldom knowE
A brother with affection's glowE
The soldier brave A the friend sincereH
-
With honours then thy name she grac'dG
And call'd on Love to bless thy armsI
With princely rank with Virtue's charmsI
And all the pow'rs of wit and tasteG
