Thou rear'st thy beauteous head sweet flow'rA
Gemm'd by the soft and vernal show'rA
Its drops still round thee shineB
The florist views thee with delightC
And if so precious in his sightC
Oh what art thou in mineB
-
For she who nurs'd thy drooping formD
When Winter pour'd her snowy stormD
Has oft consol'd me tooE
For me a fost'ring tear has shedF
She has reviv'd my drooping headF
And bade me bloom anewE
-
When adverse Fortune bade us partG
And grief depress'd my aching heartG
Like yon reviving rayH
She from behind the cloud would moveI
And with a stolen look of loveJ
Would melt my cares awayH
-
Sweet flow'r supremely dear to meK
Thy lovely mistress blooms in theeK
For tho' the garden's prideL
In beauty's grace and tint array'dM
Thou seem'st to court the secret shadeM
Thy modest form to hideL
-
Oh crown'd with many a roseate yearN
Bless'd may she be who plac'd thee hereO
Until the tear of loveJ
Shall tremble in the eye to findP
Her spirit spotless and refin'dP
Borne to the realms aboveJ
-
And oft for thee sweet child of springQ
The Muse shall touch her tend'rest stringQ
And as thou rear'st thine headF
She shall invoke the softest airR
Or ask the chilling storm to spareR
And bless thy humble bedF
