Bankruptcy Rendered Easy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE BBBGGB HHIJJI KKLMML BBLNNL

The Cit relying on his tradeA
Which like all other things may fadeA
Longs for a curricle and villaB
This Hatchet splendidly suppliesC
The other Cock'ril builds or buysC
To charm himself and Miss HautillaB
-
Then swift O London he retiresD
To be from all thy smoke and spiresD
From Saturday till Sunday merryE
On Sunday crowds of friends attendF
His house and garden some commendF
And all admire his port and sherryE
-
His mistress urg'd him now to playB
And cut to wealth a shorter wayB
Now as a bride she heads his tableB
But still our Cit observ'd his timeG
Returning at St Cripple's chimeG
At least as near as he was ableB
-
But soon she could not bear the sightH
Of town for walls with bow'rs uniteH
As well as smoke with country breezesI
Without the keenest grief and prideJ
He could not quit his mares and brideJ
We yield as soon as passion seizesI
-
The clock no more his herald prov'dK
Tuesday nay Wednesday morn have mov'dK
Ere trembling shopmen saw their masterL
Observing neighbours whisper'd roundM
That ease might do with plenty crown'dM
If not that ruin came the fasterL
-
His cash grew scarce his business stillB
At variance were his books and tillB
For wolves devour when shepherds slumberL
His creditors around him pourN
Seize all his horses household storeN
And only give him up the lumberL
