The Castle By The Sea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DAD ABE FGH FBA IJKJ LMF NJA

'Hast thou seen that lordly castleA
That Castle by the SeaB
Golden and red above itC
The clouds float gorgeouslyA
-
'And fain it would stoop downwardD
To the mirrored wave belowA
And fain it would soar upwardD
In the evening's crimson glow '-
-
'Well have I seen that castleA
That Castle by the SeaB
And the moon above it standingE
And the mist rise solemnly '-
-
'The winds and the waves of oceanF
Had they a merry chimeG
Didst thou hear from those lofty chambersH
The harp and the minstrel's rhyme '-
-
'The winds and the waves of oceanF
They rested quietlyB
But I heard on the gale a sound of wailA
And tears came to mine eye '-
-
'And sawest thou on the turretsI
The King and his royal brideJ
And the wave of their crimson mantlesK
And the golden crown of prideJ
-
'Led they not forth in raptureL
A beauteous maiden thereM
Resplendent as the morning sunF
Beaming with golden hair '-
-
'Well saw I the ancient parentsN
Without the crown of prideJ
They were moving slow in weeds of woeA
No maiden was by their side '-
